Discussion Topic: Describe one area where you would like to advance your knowledge, skills, and motivation.

 

 

After reviewing the ASTD competencies and completing the “New Skills for a New Work Reality” reading, I have two areas in technology that I would like to improve.  The first area where I would like to improve is in learning technologies and second is in knowledge management. 

 

 

Learning technologies is a necessary and vital component in staying up to date and relevant in an era where technology is everywhere and key to maintaining a successful business.  Working in the HR department, I’ve learned that learning new technology will save your business time, money, and resources. That is why it is so important to stay in the loop and know what options your business has when it comes to handling any type of technological changes or advances.  As mentioned earlier, I would like to improve in knowledge management.  One day I would like to be able to provide knowledge and information to my colleagues in a meaningful way.  By this I mean that I would to share the knowledge I have in specific subjects in a way that anyone could easily understand it and retain that information. While working in HR, I’ve also learned that everyone is not on the same page on certain subjects and this would eventually lead to confusion and conflicts ahead.  I feel that the improvement in the areas of learning technologies and knowledge management would really increase my quality as a valued employee and also provide lifelong skills in becoming a successful working professional.
